Framboise Kit Kat

I love the combination of raspberry with chocolate so of course I had to buy this Framboise kit kat when I spotted it at the Chinese confectionery store.  Don't you love the packaging. :)

King of Mangoes

Having missed the season last year, I’ve been keeping an eye on local blogs for this year’s crop of Alphonso mangoes. I came across this blog and concluded that they’ve arrived. A call to Kohinoor Foods confirmed they had them in stock. After enjoying the nice weather by biking down the DVP trail, we headed down to Little India in search for mangoes. It was an interesting exchange at the store, nevertheless, I got what I was looking for. I left the store happily with my box of mangoes, excited to eat the King of mangoes.
I’ll have to say, I’m not sure what the hype is all about. It was ok, not what I was expecting. The mangoes which I had in Thailand are way sweeter. It’s probably the difference with having something fresh versus shipping overseas.

Soft spot for these treats....

In the last few years my palate for chocolate has changed considerably. Chocolate bars from my adolescent days no longer satisfy me. I have grown fondly of Valrhona chocolate bars and unable to find pleasure in the simple chocolate bar. However, I do have a soft spot for Japanese chocolates. I am unable to past on Japanese kit kats upon discovering newly flavours at the Chinese confectionary store. I’m just amazed at the different flavours they concoct over in Japan and take advantage of any opportunity to test them out. I recently bought three new flavours from the store....unfortunately I been sick the last few weeks so haven’t had the chance to try them out. Yes, it’s been an unhealthy start to 2010 for me. I left 2009 with a cough that only got worse as I entered into 2010.

Also I finally found Meji’s Meiji’s Kinoko no Yama for sale in Toronto. I’ve been looking for them at the store ever since I read about them here. I can't wait to test them out!
